Teacher Gear

We went shopping for some professional Thailand teacher outfits today! Here's a glimpse of our new wardrobe. :)

What do you think? Do I look 10 years older? Will teenagers listen to me even though I'm only 2 years their senior? Aren't Jules' shoes the best you've ever seen? Doesn't Julia look tanner?

Bonus: If you look closely, you'll see the two suits are actually the same thing in different colors (it becomes more obvious with the lining) so...we may or may not be matching.

Comment below! We want to know who's reading!

Opening Statement

The title of this blog is the chosen nickname for Julia (Juju) and Ariel (Aire). The two of us will be moving to Thailand for at least a year and teaching English in either Chiang Mai or Bangkok.

We just (and I mean JUST) officially booked our flight to Thailand. Leaving September 11th (the significant date wasn't actually recognized until after the celebration of having booked a flight) with a comfy 2 hour layover in Tokyo. We'll be in the air for a total of 20 hours, arriving at 11:15 pm Thailand time (which is 16 hours ahead of California time).

Things we need to do before we go:
Eesh that title is a bit foreboding. Maybe I'll narrow it down to Big Essential Things we need to do before we go:

  • Get our Visas
  • Complete TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course and get certificates

Things we will do when we get there:
  • Figure out if we're living in Bangkok or Chiang Mai
  • Find a job
  • Get an apartment
  • Open a bank account
  • Buy a phone (or SIM for our iPhones)
  • Get internet (for Skype and blogging!)

Naturally those lists are not quite as detailed as our actual lists, but you get the idea.

Of course, the beginning of a blog is never quite as interesting as when the stories and adventures really start coming, but I hope to gain followers as my life becomes more interesting. So for now, hi Sam and Kali. :P
